Ordinary is a silent tribute to someone that I did not personally know, but whose story had parallels to my own life. In this person, I saw an outcome that could have been my own had I not escaped a great time of hopelessness and depression in my life.

The broader topic of this song is the struggle with depression, a silent and unspoken problem for many. While depression will always be a part of who I am and a struggle on some level, I was fortunate enough to escape the worst aspects of it alive, and hope to provide comfort and hope to those that are still greatly struggling.
